The Pippen Award

Since the summer of 2019, two campers each week have earned what we consider one of the highest honors at camp: The Pippen Award.

Named after Scottie Pippen, the award recognizes the players who do all the little things that make great teams, the hustle plays, the extra effort, and the moments that don’t always show up on the scoreboard. Each session, one winner is selected from 4th–6th grade and one from 7th–9th grade.

So how do you win?

Throughout the week, coaches hand out basketball cards to campers we see going above and beyond. That might mean diving to save a ball, setting a great screen, beating your personal record in Around the World, or picking up a teammate after they fall.

At the end of the week, the campers who’ve collected the most cards take home The Pippen Award, paired with some serious prizes: signed basketballs, NBA jerseys, collector cards, photos, and other gear from some of the game’s legends.
