Our story

Zander and Savion began working together in 2021. Their shared vision — to build something bigger than either of them — became Altair Athletics. Everything that made ZHoops special is still here: the energy, the competition, the culture. Now elevated with pro-level coaching, upgraded facilities, and a sharper daily structure built to develop complete athletes.

Meet the Team

Zander Colman

Coach

Zander founded ZHoops Camps seven years ago to create the camp he wished he had.

He played at Weston High School, competed for Emerson College, and played internationally at the University of Auckland for UOA-EXE, competing in semi-pro and 3x3 tournaments in New Zealand.

Zander also co-founded Crystal Lake Creatives, a production company making narrative, documentaries, commercials, and wedding films.

Zander founded ZHoops Camps seven years ago with one goal: create the kind of camp he wished he had growing up.

He played at Weston High School, went on to compete for Emerson College (NCAA Division III Tournament qualifier), and later played internationally at the University of Auckland for UOA-EXE, competing in semi-pro and 3x3 tournaments across New Zealand.

Beyond basketball, Zander is the co-founder of Crystal Lake Creatives, a production company making narrative, documentaries, commercials, and wedding films.

Savion Lewis

Pro Player

Savion Lewis, a New York native and professional basketball player, boasts accolades like Mr. New York Basketball, McDonald’s All-American Nominee, and MAAC all-conference honors at Quinnipiac University. As the program’s all-time assist leader and second nationally in 2024-25, he now competes professionally in Europe for KK Leotar in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Known for his basketball IQ, poise, and mentorship, Savion has been part of Altair Athletics since 2021, providing elite instruction and genuine mentorship to every session.

Hugo Anoh

Co-Director

Former Division I football athlete at Valparaiso University and player of the Year at Palisades Charter High School. Hugo is now a senior at Emerson College, studying Business & Entertainment, and a varsity basketball practice team player.

Hugo blends athletic discipline with operational leadership and has multiple summers of youth sports coaching experience across the Los Angeles area.

Kapita Kalemba

Co-Director

Kapita has been a head counselor since 2021. He holds the record for most team championships at camp and is well-loved at camp for his calm demeanor, competitive fire, and humor.

Kapita was a two-year varsity player at Bunnell High School and a former AAU teammate of Zander.is a recent grad of UConn, getting to experience some of the best hoops in the world right here in Connecticut.
